Scituate, Mass. Officer Rescues Kayakers
Officers in Scituate, Massachusetts couldn’t figure out why fellow IBPO Local 461 member Erik Steverman walked into the station last weekend sopping wet. Did he get that way at an otherwise uneventful drug arrest earlier in the day? He wouldn't explain why it looked like he'd gone for a swim in his uniform.
They later learned that Officer Steverman had pulled over to help rescue two teenaged kayakers who were being sucked into a culvert. Onlookers held a rope while he went into the rough waters and pulled the second kayaker to safety.
