IBPO Local 673, which represents police officers in Chattanooga, helped sponsor an IBPO team for the Sgt. John Baker Memorial FCPO Golf Tournament on March 28.
Sgt. John Baker #628 started with the Chattanooga Police Department in July, 1988, and was a active member in the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers, USA. In September, 2001, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and had to leave the department a few short months later. John was 36 years old when he passed in December 2001.
John worked hard to witness to as many people as he could and to bring them closer to the church and the Lord before his diagnoses, and even harder after. He tried to touch as many people as he could.
John, his life, and the way he chose to live it, still to this day touches many people's lives.
Out of 23 teams in the tournament, the IBPO team came in second with a score of -17; the winning score came in at -16, with two teams tying with that score.
We are very proud of the team and of the individual members, not only for coming in 2nd out of 23 (very impressive in itself) but for allowing IBPO and its members to contribute to a great cause.
